BI-wiring is a speaker connection method where two sets of wires independently connect an amplifier to the woofer and tweeter sections of a speaker.
In BI-wiring, two separate wire runs are used from the same amplifier channel to connect directly to the high-frequency and low-frequency inputs of a speaker. While both sets of wires still carry the full-range signal, the speaker’s crossover continues directing frequencies to the appropriate drivers. The approach is intended to reduce potential distortion caused by shared impedance or back EMF, allowing high and low frequencies to interact less within the cable. Though the performance benefits may vary, BI-wiring is often adopted in high-fidelity audio systems to support improved clarity and frequency separation.
