Installing D01 Connector with Automated tool onto 1/2" Coaxial Cable

Installing the RFS D01 Connector onto a 1/2" coaxial cable using the automated tool is a streamlined process that ensures precision and efficiency. The WCW-NM-LCF12-D01 connector is specifically designed for 1/2" LCF12-50 and ICA12-50 series cables, making it a reliable choice for Distributed Antenna System (DAS) applications. This connector is part of the OMNI FIT™ Premium series, known for its high performance and compatibility with both CELLFLEX® copper and CELLFLEX® Lite aluminum cables. Its robust design reduces intermodulation, maintaining optimal network performance, which is crucial for signal integrity in DAS setups. The automated trimming tool, WCW-TRIM-LCF12-D01-A, complements the connector by providing precise trimming of low-voltage wires. This tool is engineered to facilitate the easy attachment of D01 series connectors, ensuring quick, clean, and consistent cuts. It integrates all necessary functions into one compact device, eliminating the need for additional tools. The tool's design allows for exact and repeatable trimming dimensions, which is essential for precision cable preparation. Additionally, it is compatible with a battery drill drive, further speeding up the cable preparation process. Together, the connector and the automated trimming tool offer a seamless installation experience. The connector's two-piece design allows for straightforward installation, reducing the risk of incorrect setups. Meanwhile, the trimming tool's intuitive design and durable cutting blades ensure low maintenance costs and long-lasting performance. This combination not only enhances the quality of installations but also streamlines workflow, making it an essential investment for professionals in the low-voltage cable and wire management industry.

Tools required for this installation are a portable bandsaw, a cordless drill, flush cutters, two pipe wrenches, and the WCW-TRIM-LCF12-D01-A automated tool. Begin by using the bandsaw to cut a flush end of the coax cable as slight downward angle. Next, insert and lock in the automated tool into your drill as you would any other drill bit.

Run the drill clockwise on a low RPM setting to make sure it's secured in your drill before using it with the coax cable. Then insert the cable into the trimming tool as far as it can go inside. Once the cable is securely in place, run the drill. spinning the trimming tool while applying pressure and pushing against the cable as you go.

You will see shavings of both the cables jacket and the inner corrugated copper shielding ejecting out the sides of the trimming tool. Stop when there is no more shavings and you cannot push the cable in any further.

You can now install the back nut by pushing it onto the cable. You will feel it click on when you've pushed it on far enough. Now, pull the nut forward slightly. You'll feel a second click when the polymer claws lock into place over the copper corrugation. Detach the outer barrel of the automated tool, it's equipped with a flare tool.

Insert the conductor in the center and run the drill again to flare out the end of the corrugation ensuring the polymer claws have a tight grip. Lastly, screw on the body hand tight. Then, using the two pipe wrenches, while always securely holding the body, fully tighten them together. For more information, reach out to one of our knowledgeable sales representatives today.
